Pittsburgh Marathon Training – What We’re Running For

We’re less than two months from the May 6th start of the 2012 Pittsburgh Marathon.  The long runs are getting longer, more difficult, and more time consuming.  My calf muscles are tight, shins are throbbing, and feet covered with blisters.  The question arises, “why am I doing this?”  It’s time for a motivational boost.  Continue reading for video highlights of the 2011 Pittsburgh Marathon.

City of Bridges… City of Champions… Runners of Steel.

Love it!  I can’t wait to get back to my hometown, and toe the starting line of the 2012 Pittsburgh Marathon.  Watching the video, seeing the neighborhoods, and hearing the energy of the crowd is just what I needed to get out there and tackle my next long run.  See you at the starting line.

In addition to my attempt to earn the “Runner of Steel” title, I’m running to raise money for Give Kids The World, a nonprofit resort where children with life-threatening illnesses stay when they have a wish to visit Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, SeaWorld, or anywhere in Central Florida.  I’m asking readers to donate $26.20 ($1/mile of the marathon) to my GKTW Pittsburgh Marathon Challenge (but any amount donated is accepted and appreciated).  Click here for the next installment of my training efforts for the Pittsburgh Marathon.  For more running adventures, be sure to follow Adventures by Daddy on twitter and “like” our facebook page too.
