This week Disney announced an expansion for their Hawaiian resort, Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, that opened one year ago in August, 2011. A second phase of construction for Aulani was always in the plans, with an additional hotel tower to be built. However, this expansion will focus on adding more dining and entertainment options as well as increasing the size of the pool area. Construction will begin in September 2012 and last through mid-2013.
Update: Aulani currently has a special offer for most stays between September 10 and December 22, 2012 where guests can get five nights for the price of three. Reservations need to be booked by November 10, 2012, and Aulani will be undergoing construction during those dates. Thanks to Travel on a Dream for the tip.
Aulani is a 21 acre beachfront resort located in Ko Olina, Oahu – 17 miles from Honolulu International Airport and approximately 30 minutes from Waikiki. The resort was specifically designed by Walt Disney Imagineering for families to visit and enjoy Hawaii together, and is part of the Disney Vacation Club, Disney’s Timeshare ownership program. Note, guests do not need to be members of Disney Vacation Club in order to stay at Aulani.
“Aulani has been exceptionally well received by our guests, and we are excited to add new amenities,” said Elliot Mills, vice president and general manager of Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa. “The resort has one of the most extensive arrays of recreational offerings in Hawaii. From its winding streams and interactive play features to its private snorkeling lagoon, our Waikolohe Valley pool area offers something to delight every member of the family, and we’re thrilled that soon there will be even more to enjoy.”
In addition to the expansion of the pool and dining offerings, the Starlit Hui show will move to a larger venue in order to accommodate more guests.
