Glow with the Show Technology Coming to Disneyland’s Fantasmic!

During the relaunch of Disney California Adventure park last June, Disney debuted a new type of RFID technology that allows guests to actually become a part of the nighttime shows.  Those attending the media preview were given a set of the brand new “Glow with the Show” ear hats, and once people started posting photos & videos during/after the show, folks following along at home were going crazy for it!  Myself included, it was stunning!  If you haven’t seen the ears in action, they actually light up and “dance” to the music of the show.  They’re also synced to different points depending on where you’re standing while viewing the show.  It’s amazing!

The price for the ears comes to $25 flat (tax included)

In late June, Disneyland Annual Passholders were given an opportunity to experience Glow with the Show in it’s full glory by offering a private viewing and a free set of ears to each attendee.  I was lucky enough to be able to attend one of the special shows, and I’m happy to report that the experience was even better in person.  I still get goosebumps when I think about it.

This past weekend, the Disney Parks Blog announced that the unique ear hats have been very well-received and are being introduced into Disneyland, with Fantastmic! being the first show to incorporate them.  In a second blog update, it was revealed that there would be another annual passholder viewing party to kick it off, although this time it’s strictly BYOE (bring your own ears).   The party is scheduled for August 28, and annual passholders can register now for the event at a Disneyland Resort Ticket Booth through  8/23 (or until capacity is reached, whichever is first).   The “invitation” promises that select attractions, food and shopping venues will be open during the two hour event, which lasts from 10:00 pm until 12:00 am with the show starting at 11:30 pm.  Dates have not yet been provided  for the official launch of the technology into the regular nightly showings, or to the fireworks.

Even if you aren’t a Disneyland passholder, or can’t make it out for the party specifically, I would highly encourage anyone visiting Disneyland to invest in the Glow with the Show ears.  The more people in the audience that are wearing them, the better the experience is for everyone!  Join in on the fun!
