Italian Soccer Club AS Roma Takes a Holiday at Walt Disney World

Earlier, Disney Sports announced that famed Italian football club AS Roma will become the official professional football club of the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World.  AS Roma takes up residence at the complex for a winter training session, a high school soccer clinic, as well as a VIP fan experience December 29, 2012 – January 1, 2013.  Continue reading for more details on how you can interact with the Italian soccer stars from Disney Sports press release.

Disney Sports shared photos and video of AS Roma taking the field today for the start of their winter training at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.  The three-time Serie A-champion AS Roma club is in its first year training at Walt Disney World Resort.

Youth athletes from Orlando FC America (girls) and Concorde Fire of Georgia are joined by members of AS Roma during a special clinic December 29, 2012 at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.  The two youth clubs are participating in Disney’s Soccer Showcase, which runs at the same time at AS Roma’s winter training at Walt Disney World Resort.

AS Roma, one of the world’s most storied and celebrated soccer teams, arrive at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex for the club’s inaugural winter training, December 29, 2012 through January 1, 2013.  As part of a six-year partnership with Disney, the three-time Italian Serie A champions hold training sessions open to the public, in conjunction with Disney’s Soccer Showcase, the premier youth soccer tournament for college recruitment in the United States.

Disney’s Soccer Showcase has separate tournaments for boys December 26 – 30 and girls December 30 – January 3 with AS Roma’s winter training camp sandwiched in between, so all the athletes can interact with the sports celebrities.  All AS Roma training sessions are open to the public with paid admission to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex; daily admission is $16.00 (ages 10 & older), $11.00 (ages 3-9).  Fans can watch from the sidelines as some of the world’s best soccer players train and run drills.
