Post and Videos by John Saccheri

On June 19th, Universal Orlando Resort held an evening reception inside the Universal Studios Florida theme park for media guests to experience Transformers: The Ride – 3D.  We were ushered into Lombards Restaurant for some delicious food, most of which I was unable to identify.

Media chatted as a group with Mike West, the Executive Producer for Universal Creative Studio.  Although I would have enjoyed some one on one time with Mr. West, time did not allow.  I was able to get in my own question asking him to elaborate on how seamless the movies and physical set pieces blended with the ride experience.

In my opinion, Transformers: The Ride – 3D is nothing short of amazing.  Now, because it is the same ride technology as Islands of Adventure’s The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, I knew what to expect, BUT that doesn’t detract from the super immersive world Universal Orlando catapults you into!

Transformer’s ride vehicle (EVAC) is intense without being rough.  The size and scope of the set pieces are breathtaking and the ride length, fairly satisfying at around 4 minutes.  Because of the 3D element, filming this sort of attraction doesn’t give a good idea of the experience.  The video here shows off the story telling queue and some limited on-ride moments as well as the gift shop.

Towards the end of the evening Universal Orlando set up an interactive meet and greet opportunity with the Transformers Megatron and Bumblebee.  These characters can recognize, chat, and call out people by name for a fun experience.

Adventures by Daddy will head back to Universal Orlando for today’s Grand Opening celebration of Transformers: The Ride – 3D.  Continue watching for our coverage of that event, but in the meantime let us know what you think of the new addition to the park.  Is this something you’re excited to experience yourself?  Please leave a comment below.  For more family travel news, reviews, and trip reports, be sure to follow Adventures by Daddy on twitter and “like” our facebook page too.

About John Saccheri

John Saccheri has been rooted in the Disney culture from childhood. John only had the opportunity to visit Walt Disney World once, at the age of 5. After returning home, he never stopped talking about it, yearning to return. His parents were worried about this “obsession,” but John began working at the age of 12 with a focus on saving up for the next Disney trip. He was able to visit Disney World at least once a year from 14 years old onward. Today, a successful entrepreneur, John was able to move from his hometown of Long Island, New York, to Central Florida to be close to the Mouse. Going to the parks still seems like a fantasy to him!
