Big G Cereal Wars STAR WARS Pens Released

PEW! pew, pew PEW!  Who needs Star Wars: Episode VII, when we have our own Star Wars saga playing out on the breakfast table?  Wait, strike that… I’m sorry, forgive me J. J. Abrams!  Of course I’ll be in a theater seat for the December 18, 2015 opening of Star Wars VII.  In the meantime, General Mills Big G Cereals brings “The Force” to breakfast with collectible Star Wars character pens.  Continue reading for more details, and how you can win Star Wars collectibles direct from the Lucasfilm archives.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away…

Cereal Wars: Star Wars Pens

[Note: Star Wars opening theme plays in your mind...]

It is the dawn of a new day.
Children waken, HUNGRY and sleepy,
yearning to end the tyranny of starvation.

During the night, Dad
had a late night snack, while watching
discovered a STAR WARS pen
in a Big G cereal box.

Kids thump down the stairs,
eagerly hankering for breakfast,
when they find the evil LORD VADER
doodling secret plans on a paper….

Star Wars toys and collectibles have been inspiring people to play and create for generations.  Now, General Mills Big G cereals include eight figure pens featuring various characters from the iconic Star Wars episodes from now until the end of December 2013.  The collectible pen characters include: Darth Vader, Yoda, Chewbacca, Storm Trooper, Mace Windu, Obi Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and Boba Fett.  To kick off the promotion, Big G is asking Star Wars (and cereal) fans to re-create iconic scenes from the movies for a chance to win collector’s items from the Lucasfilm archives.  Visit the Cereal Wars Tumblr page to view the Star Wars inspired videos and submit your own.

Star Wars toys and collectibles have been inspiring people to play and create for generations – as evidenced by the recent induction of Star Wars action figures into the Toy Hall of Fame.

“When you combine an iconic franchise like Star Wars and a beloved brand like Big G cereals, you have the chance to create an incredible amount of pop culture love,” says Lisa Tomassen, integrated communication manager at General Mills. “We’re excited about this unique opportunity to connect with both fan bases and can’t wait to share the inspiration that ensues.”

In addition, Big G cereals have teamed up with three unofficial Star Wars fan sites for a giveaway of five high-value collector’s items from the Lucasfilm archives.  Submit a video on the Cereal Wars site to enter to win [click "About" on the Cereal Wars page, and scroll to the bottom for complete details].  The giveaway items include:

  1. 24″ Star Wars Super Shogun Stormtrooper (Limited Edition)
  2. 501st Legion Trooper Helmet Replica (Limited Edition)
  3. Exclusive Studio Scale Star Corps Trooper Helmet Replica
  4. Luke Skywalker vs. Vader ARTFX Statue (Ralph McQuarrie Version)
  5. Scout Trooper and Speeder Bike Statue Gentle Giant

You can find your collectible Star Wars pens in seven Big G cereals, including: Honey Nut Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Reese’s Puffs, Golden Grahams, Cocoa Puffs, Trix and Lucky Charms.  Get some pens, get some cereal, and start creating.  I’ll be sure to share my videos as we go along.  The only problem I see is, I need more pens to recreate these famous scenes.

Admiral Ackbar – “It’s a trap!”

Han Solo and Greedo – “Han Shot First!”

Princess Leia, “I love you.

Han Solo, ” I know.”

Disclosure: this post was sponsored by General Mills cereal, but my love of Star Wars (and cereal) is authentic and all my own.  For more family entertainment news and reviews, be sure to follow Adventures by Daddy on twitter and “like” our facebook page too.
