Fairy Tale Dining at Great Wolf Lodge Snowland and a SWEET GIVEAWAY

At the far end of town, where the Pixie Stix grows, and the wind smells sweet-and-sour when it blows, and the birds always sing (excepting old crows), is the street of the Great Wolf Snowland.  Alright, alright, apologies to Dr. Seuss, but the life-size Gingerbread House our family dined in recently at the Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls just calls for some silly Seussian sweetness.  Continue reading for our family’s fairy tale dining experience inside the Gingerbread House as well as a SWEET GIVEAWAY to kick off the new year.

Great Wolf Lodge Niagara Falls

Each holiday season from the end of Thanksgiving until the new year, each Great Wolf Lodge indoor water park resort sprinkles in their properties with glistening snow, twinkling lights, and decorative trees in a winter wonderland display called Snowland.  From top to bottom, the hotels shout Christmas, and the centerpiece of each lobby is a life-sized Gingerbread House that would please even Hansel and Gretel.  We were invited to visit the Niagara Falls resort to experience Great Wolf Lodge Snowland and dine INSIDE the Gingerbread House.  Note: we could only eat at the house and not on (or from) the house…

A holiday train chugged through the house-sized confection.

Inside the house sat a single table where one family (of up to 6 people) could enjoy a private holiday dining experience.  Once we stepped inside the Gingerbread House, the delicious aroma of Christmas cookies transported us instantly to the North Pole.  [Perhaps that train was the Polar Express afterall…]  The smell of gingerbread induced cravings for sweets from our daughters – but never fear, the all-you-care-to-eat buffet was mere steps away.  We stepped up to the counter, loaded up on dinner of ribs, pizza, pork chops, and salad, but were sure to save room for the cookies, cakes, ice cream, and other delectable morsels too.

There was an additional fee of $20 to sit inside the Gingerbread House (in addition to the usual cost of the buffet).  However, it was great to know that seating fee went to local charities – at Niagara Falls they were raising money for Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital.  So while we were able to enjoy a unique holiday dining experience, in a small way we helped others at the same time.  Take a closer look at the details inside the Gingerbread House – sorry, I couldn’t reproduce the scent of the cookies.

We enjoyed our fairy tale dinner inside the Great Wolf Lodge Snowland Gingerbread House, and certainly had a better time than Hansel and Gretel.  We just may have to come back next year and make it a holiday tradition – especially because we heard the resort is plussing it with one of our family’s favorite candies – PEEPS!  Great Wolf Lodge partnered with Just Born, Inc., the parent company to PEEPS marshmallows, Mike & Ike candies, and Hot Tamales.  Many of the Great Wolf Lodge Gingerbread Houses across the country included PEEPS, Mike & Ikes, and Hot Tamales in their decorating schemes.  Take a look at the Wisconsin Dells Gingerbread House with PEEP snowdrifts accumulating on the roof.
