Photoblog: Captain America Meet-and-Greet at Disneyland

It’s exciting to live near Disneyland as an Annual Passholder.  Especially since The Walt Disney Company has chosen Disneyland to be the site of their first Avengers Meet and Greets!  Back in November, Richard and I were excited to meet Thor for the very first time.  Now due to Captain America: The Winter Soldier coming out in theaters on April 4, Disneyland announced that The First Avenger himself would be available for Meet and Greets! (I guess saving the world takes a back seat to an appearance at Disneyland to promote his movie)

Richard and I visited Captain America in his new exhibit, “Captain America: The Living Legend and Symbol of Courage” on March 4th during a special Annual Passholder preview.

Beautiful artwork surrounding the exhibit

The queue for Captain America is filled with beautiful artwork and artifacts from the movie, including shield variations and his costumes.

But just around the corner is Captain America himself!  They’ve kitted out his area with design elements from his shield which looks great in pictures.  It’s all red white and blue. If you weren’t feeling patriotic before, you definitely are now!  Captain America himself, at least the one we met, is a straight arrow.  There’s no joking around like Thor.  I think he was still trying to feel out his character, but he was great at telling Richard exactly how to pose to best advantage.  Don’t they look great together?

Captain America, meet Captain America…I mean, my husband!

I’ll take two!

Now Thor’s Meet and Greet, “Thor: Treasures of Asgard” consisted of a 7-minute mini theatrical scene where you are “transported” to the Asgardian Throne Room and Thor appears.  He then chooses a child to wield his hammer.  “Captain America: The Living Legend and Symbol of Courage” contained no such theatrics despite its long name.  It was a simple “Hi, how are you?”  Click! Flash! and you’re out.  When I asked the Cast Members why no pomp and circumstance, they said Captain America was a simple, down-to-earth guy and didn’t like to put on airs.  Quick thinking on the part of that CM!

Captain America, like Thor, resides in the Innoventions building.  The Avengers are slowly taking over the top floor of Innoventions.  Women rejoice!  While husbands and fathers get to see cute princesses at meet-and-greets, now wives and mothers can see cute superheroes!

After meeting Captain America, Thor was right next door with a 10 minute wait so we hopped on over to him.  Then for good measure we took some pictures with the Iron Man exhibit.  If it’s a rainy day at Disneyland, this is a great way to pass the time.
