Help Give Kids The World By Giving an Ice Cream Wake Up and WIN

Volunteering at Give Kids The World Village, it’s easy to see how little things can brighten a day and elicit a smile – a swim in the pool, a hug from a friend, a scoop of ice cream.  If a scoop of ice cream can make these children and families smile, then why not let them have ice cream whenever they want?  An ice cream palace stands in the center of the Village, and if these special kids want ice cream for breakfast, GKTW is happy to oblige.  GKTW wants your help to spread the joy, happiness and news of the Village, and even WIN some fun prizes.  Continue reading to find out how.

From Give Kids The World Village’s press release

For a few years, Jimmy Kimmel has had great fun with the reactions of kids whose parents told them they ate all their Halloween Candy.  At Give Kids The World Village, we surprise kids too—but in a much happier fashion!  Parents from families who visit our Village get to surprise their kids with Ice Cream For Breakfast – or lunch or dinner or anytime.  So, celebrity chef Emily Ellyn is inviting parents nationwide to share the magic of the GKTW Ice Cream For Breakfast tradition with their kids!

A former Food Network Star finalist now known for her Retro Rad take on cooking and entertaining, Emily is inviting parents to surprise their children one morning by serving them Ice Cream For Breakfast, capturing the reactions on video, and sharing those videos via social media using the hashtag #IceCreamWakeUp.  Then let us know they joined the fun at where they can enter to win a fabulous prize!  Then, from late April through May, we’ll be posting fun “mash-ups” of the funniest, sweetest, most unusual and joyous reactions for sharing.

This will be great fun and, best of all, by sharing these fun videos, parents and kids will help spread awareness of how Ice Cream For Breakfast supports the Give Kids The World mission.  At this 70-acre, non-profit “storybook” resort, unlimited ice cream is dished out from morning to night in our Ice Cream Palace during weeklong, cost-free fantasy vacations provided to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Emily Ellyn, the Retro Rad Diva, is joining an incredibly dedicated team of volunteers in her role as the Official Spokesperson for Ice Cream For Breakfast 2014.  Her mission of taking the retro, remixing it and making it “RAD” matches a return to nostalgic neighborhood fun – with a few new twists—that is the brand of the Ice Cream For Breakfast 2014 campaign.  Emily will be reaching out nationwide from now until summer’s end to moms, their kids and other volunteers.  She’ll give them lots of tips and inspiration so they can throw a totally RAD Ice Cream Social event to raise funds for Give Kids The World.

Says Emily Ellyn, “I’ll be sharing the scoop with moms everywhere on how to bring neighborhoods, communities and families together over summer break.  We’ll top it off with a sense of Retro Rad nostalgia and a touch of that Leave It To Beaver feel.  And of course, the support of the Give Kids The World Mission will be the cherry on top!”

Give Kids The World

The Ice Cream For Breakfast campaign was inspired by a GKTW wish family who celebrates the anniversary of their trip by eating ice cream for breakfast, just like they did in the Village Ice Cream Palace.  For the 5th birthday of this grassroots, volunteer-driven event, Give Kids The World is asking philanthropic families nationwide to help spread awareness of how volunteers can support the GKTW mission in many ways like: collecting donations by holding Ice Cream Socials in their communities, engaging their companies to support the mission or inviting friends and family members join them in online donation opportunities!  The official launch of Ice Cream For Breakfast 2014 is in June.
