There is tons of Spooktacular fun bubbling up at SeaWorld Orlando this Halloween season!  On weekends throughout the month of October, the park is giving guests a chance to immerse themselves in a “fantasea” filled with trick-or-treating, whimsical pumpkin fish and sea-themed arts and crafts as part of their the SeaWorld Orlando Halloween Spooktacular.  Adventures by Daddy visited the opening day of SeaWorld Orlando’s Spooktacular – read on for our review.

Your visit to the Spooktacular event is included with your admission to SeaWorld Orlando, so that’s all you’ll need to participate in the fun.  This is also a great time for kids to get some extra use out of their Halloween costumes because they are allowed to attend in costume.  We definitely saw adults getting in on the dress-up fun too.

Most of the Spooktacular action takes place along the Bayside Path, looping from the front of the park up to the Shamu’s Happy Harbor play zone.  Once you step on the path, and are greeted by sea creatures and characters, as well as candy princesses, it’s impossible not to smile.  Tons of bubbles pour out of machines disguised as jelly fish and fill the path, catching the light and making it seem like you are indeed in an underwater “fantasea.”  As you amble along the path, taking in more characters, including a catfish and dogfish and several others, there are tons of opportunities for Halloween fun.

One of the biggest draws for families was the trick or treat stations.  With several different treat stations sprinkled throughout the park, there are tons of different opportunities to trick or treat for tons of delicious top-shelf candy.  Additional treat stations are added throughout the day and sometimes change places, so don’t be afraid to make a few trips along the path to check out what’s available.

There are several pop-up games and stands along the path as well, including things for purchase and more opportunities for family fun.  Another of the popular things to do here was cookie decorating.  The cookie decorating kit comes with one large sugar cookie, icing and assorted toppings including jelly beans, sprinkles, candy corn and Twizzlers.  The kit comes with your choice of milk or apple juice.  We saw several families getting down to decorating their cookies, but the packaging on the kit also makes it easy to take home for later.

Making your way along the path, you may find yourself in the middle of a “pumpkin-fish” patch.  There are many great opportunities to snap family photos throughout the park.

Once you get to the Bayside Amphitheater, you’re at the ready heart of the Halloween bash: Penelope’s Party Zone!  Here, with a beautiful backdrop of the bay and hanging jellyfish, there are chance to dance, make crafts and play games.  Later in the evening we saw many families happily dancing along to great kid-friendly hits.  You also have a chance to decorate your own pumpkin with stickers at a craft table.  All in all it seems like a great place to enjoy a few moments to relax while the kids enjoy themselves.

In addition to the all the opportunities for fun and games on the Bayside Path, families can also catch the highly enjoyable and interactive show: Sesame Street Countdown to Halloween.  Featuring familiar favorites like Count Von Count, Abby Cadabby, Elmo and several others, the show offers lots of opportunities to sing and dance along to familiar favorites.  The show is a great chance to cool off and get out of the Florida sun, but the theatre only has a limited number of seats, so be sure to get there early.

Beyond all the Spooktacular fun, you can take advantage of all the great rides, shows and animal interactions that SeaWorld offers.  We trick-or-treated, saw the Sesame Street show and still had plenty of time for rides, feeding dolphins and catching the Shamu show One Ocean.  If you’re interested in adding more to your Halloween experience, SeaWorld also offers a Dine with Shamu Spooktacular Brunch.  This package not only lets you get up close and personal with the killer whales, you will also leave your brunch with a family photo with a Halloween Spooktacular frame, a free cookie decorating kit and a trick-or-treat bag with goodies.
