Grand Opening The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar at Universal Orlando CityWalk

Universal Orlando CityWalk got an eclectic new unique restaurant that celebrated its grand opening - The COWFISH.  The wall has been taken down between sushi and burgers.  Fish lovers can have their sushi, and beef lovers can have their burgers, side-by-side.  If you like both, there is even Burgushi, a mash-up of the two.

The fish is seasonally fresh and above many other restaurant standards.  The beef is all natural and never frozen.  You can taste the freshness in the offerings we sampled on Dec 10, 2014.

The Longhorn Texas Burger was my favorite, with smoked bacon and fried onions.  Our whole party noticed The Cowfish wasn’t afraid to use some spice.  There was a great hot bite to some of the dishes but nothing overwhelming.

I am not a seafood lover so could only tell you the people around me loved the sushi and shrimp they were offered.

Something that really stands out is their bar!  If this place was a bar only, I would still love to visit.  The offerings were FUN.  A few standouts were the Backyard Brew which was like an alcoholic apple pie, the Chocolate To Die For (and it was) and the Marshmallow Rice Kripsie Treat Shake.  Oh my heavens, the shakes were amazing.  All can be made with or without alcohol, so just ask your server/bartender.

If you happen to need to use the restroom, be sure to look at the crazy eclectic artwork as you stroll.  Also, be sure to listen to the goings on in the mens or ladies room.  As explained in the video by one of the founders, a phrase is spoken in proper English, then Indonesian and then in Redneck.  Simply hysterical.  I got what footage I could before being thrown out of the John, LOL.

The Cowfish is a one-of-a-kind dining experience, thriving on its ability to fuse two niche products seamlessly on the same menu.  The Cowfish aims to offer something for the entire family.  Scrumptious appetizers for sharing, entree-sized salads, homemade desserts and a fun kid’s menu.  If you can’t make up your mind, try a bento box to sample a mini-burger along with your choice of sushi roll and three tasty side items.

About John Saccheri

John Saccheri has been rooted in the Disney culture from childhood. John only had the opportunity to visit Walt Disney World once, at the age of 5. After returning home, he never stopped talking about it, yearning to return. His parents were worried about this “obsession,” but John began working at the age of 12 with a focus on saving up for the next Disney trip. He was able to visit Disney World at least once a year from 14 years old onward. Today, a successful entrepreneur, John was able to move from his hometown of Long Island, New York, to Central Florida to be close to the Mouse. Going to the parks still seems like a fantasy to him!
