2014 was a great year for us at Adventures by Daddy, and before we get started on our 2015 adventures, I thought it would be fun to look back at the stories our readers found most interesting over the year. Not surprisingly the year was dominated by new roller coasters, a boy wizard, and some Norwegian sisters. So without further ado, here’s a look at the Top 10 stories of 2014 on Adventures by Daddy.
Kristen MacWilliams’ shared a preview of special Howl-iday events at Great Wolf Lodge including Howl-o-Ween and Snowland.
FROZEN fever was burning up Walt Disney World, and John Saccheri took us along to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for FROZEN Summer Fun Live! with Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and Kristoff. Even Yahoo Travel noted that the FROZEN takeover was one of the top travel stories of the year.
Leading up to the home release of Disney’s FROZEN, we were invited to the Walt Disney Animation Studios to meet with the filmmakers behind Disney’s hit film. George Gensler met with the directors and producer, and learned how rigging is used by the animators and even voiced a character from Disney’s FROZEN.
The LEGO Movie was awesome, and the surprise hit of 2014. LEGOLAND California brought The LEGO Movie Experience set to the park, and Chrysty Summers took a peek at the models used in the film.
Theme park haunts began at California’s Knott’s Scary Farm, and Sarah and Richard Woloski brought us along to the 2014 Knott’s Scary Farm and shared all the aspects including: Skeleton Key rooms, Special Ops: Infected, and more.
Who doesn’t love a new roller coaster? Steve Fulkerson attended the media preview for Kings Island’s Banshee roller coaster and called it a ride bordering on “out-of-control.” That’s a good thing.
Walt Disney World completed the largest expansion in this history of the Magic Kingdom with the opening of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train family coaster. We were one of the first to ride the attraction and brought you along with photos, a full ride-through video, and review of the Story Coaster.
Lightning struck again at Universal Orlando Resort as they expanded their Wizarding World of Harry Potter to an all new land. We shared these tips and tricks for maximizing your enjoyment at Universal Orlando’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley that opened on July 8, 2014.
We’re big fans of runDisney races, and are gearing up for the inaugural Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend. However, when Tim Kirchner asked if runDisney’s “Magic Every Mile” promise was still true, he concluded that profits were now trumping a magical experience.
Perhaps because it was one of the first stories posted in 2014, or because people couldn’t get enough of the scenic photos, our review of the Grand Palladium Riviera Maya, an all-inclusive resort on the Caribbean Sea south of Cancun, Mexico took the top spot as most read story of 2014.
