What fitting way to observe Superb Owl weekend (credit to Stephen Colbert), than with Universal Orlando’s second annual Celebration of Harry Potter. An occasion commemorating all things Harry Potter (including his owl Hedwig - see what I did there?) that stretched across Universal Orlando Resort’s two theme parks and included film stars, wand dueling, and an expo displaying movie props and costumes as well as books and merchandise. We were special guests of Universal Orlando for the event, so continue reading below for our photo and VIDEO recap of the Celebration of Harry Potter.
The Celebration of Harry Potter kicked off at the Universal Studios Florida theme park with a red carpet event welcoming stars from the film. In attendance were Michael Gambon (Albus Dumbledore), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), James Phelps (Fred Weasley) and Oliver Phelps (George Weasley). Members of the media were treated to a special panel discussion with all the film talent; click here for FULL VIDEO of the session, and learn Michael Gambon’s feelings towards the “Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts” attraction.
Wizarding World fans could also make their way through the Celebration of Harry Potter Expo with interactive displays of Harry Potter themed props, movie sets, artwork and more. Included on the Expo floor were booths for Harry Potter: The Exhibition, The Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London, MinaLima, Pottermore.com, Scholastic, and the Warner Bros. studio.
The Hogwarts Sorting Hat was on hand placing Muggles into their respective houses. In the video below, we see the Hat sort fans into all four Hogwarts Houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin.
