The I-Drive 360 Entertainment Complex on International Drive in Orlando, Florida recently revealed their three attractions. The anchor signature attraction is the immense 400 foot tall Orlando Eye observation wheel. Directly within the Orlando Eye headquarters lies the Sea Life Aquarium and Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. Continue reading for VIDEO highlights of what you can expect from the newest attractions in Orlando.
Madame Tussauds Orlando is one of many Madame Tussaud’s globally. A themed environment wax museum with figures so lifelike, some call it creepy. You can literally stare into the eyes of some of your favorite celebrities and feel as if they are going to come right to life. I can’t emphasize enough, that even up close 90% of the figures I saw felt like living people. As I explored the attraction, I often mistook real people for wax and vice versa.
Madame Tussaud’s is definitely a gold mine for the photographer and selfie fan. Walking into the exhibit without a camera would be like eating pizza without cheese.
Themed areas include a celebrity VIP lounge as well as a movie set. We were all surprised to see a wonderful Walt Disney likeness included in the Orlando Madame Tussauds. Knowing that they did not have a live person to work with for this figure (and others such as Abraham Lincoln and Dr. Martin Luther King) made it all the more amazing how alive he appeared.
Anne Hathaway, Selina Gomez, Katy Perry and Madonna were right there, in front of you – no barriers – you could touch them although I am not certain we should. They definitely felt like they could be tipped over as only their feet balanced most of them.
A wax Shrek and Fiona were also there and looked as if they came right out of the animated feature. In another section not yet ready, they were waiting for the delivery of the Po Kung Fu Panda figure.
This attraction will be a major hit with a majority of markets. I could see families loving it and getting a healthy dose of education along with some of the historical displays as well as teens taking selfies with their favorite celebrities and friends.
The Sea Life Aquarium is comprised of 25,000 square feet of themed space. Upon entering, you essentially explore the Oceans of the World. With an emphasis on protecting Sea Life, you venture into themed exhibits such as Ocean Caves, Shark Shipwreck and Stingray Cove.
What makes this aquarium different from others? Glad you asked – I saw a lot more interactivity in this attraction than at most. Such as curved tanks allowing you to enter alcoves and feel fully submersed. Bubbles within tanks that you could bend down and pop up into, essentially being in the middle of the sea life. Many of these were kid friendly and children needed no explanation on their use.
The Attraction by itself should take most people 40 minutes to explore. A rushed person could run through it within 20 minutes without fully appreciating the adventure.
Tickets vary widely in price and are less expensive online than in person. In person, one attraction such as the Sea Life Aquarium is $25. Quite frankly, $25 for a 40 minute experience really isn’t a good entertainment value when compared to an all day theme park or even a 90 minute movie, so definitely buy online and more than one attraction at once. Admission can be purchased for $18 online. Buying 2 or more attractions or even combining it with LEGOLAND Florida (another Merlin Entertainments attraction) will give you a much better value. Sea Life Aquarium and Madame Tussauds plus the Orlando Eye observation wheel only costs $35/adult.
