The Force is strong at Disney, and you can’t get any stronger than Star Wars Weekends at Disney’s Hollywood Studios that kicked off on Friday, May 15th. Similar to Star Wars Celebration that just concluded in Anaheim, California, Star Wars Weekends celebrates all things Star Wars, but with some fun Disney mash-ups thrown in as well. The festivities take place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and everything is included in your ticket price. Star Wars Weekends runs for five weeks every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 15th until June 14th. Take a look at our videos from opening day to put you right in the middle of the Star Wars Weekend fun at Walt Disney World. May the Force be with you! Always.
Star Wars Weekends features more than 60 Star Wars characters roaming Disney’s Hollywood Studios for meet-and-greet opportunities as well as the Star Wars motorcade parade. The procession begins at the front of the park and travels all the way to the Star Wars Weekends Event Stage — concluding with a grand celebrity welcome. On this opening day Ian McDiarmid, who played Emperor Palpatine, makes his very first appearance.
Throughout the run of Star Wars Weekends, celebrities appear in star conversations and talk shows hosted by James Arnold Taylor as well as autograph sessions. New for 2015 is a show focused on STAR WARS REBELS where guests can relive the twists and turns of the first season of the Disney XD series with special guests each week from the show’s voice cast. You won’t want to miss the excitement of an immersive showcase going down 15 minute prior to the show — featuring several Imperial Stormtroopers on a special assignment.
The Stars Of The Saga Talk Show has James Arnold Taylor interviewing Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine) who’s appearing at Disney’s Star Wars Weekends for the first time. Hear how McDiarmid almost didn’t get the part, and ultimately derived that nasty voice for the Evil Emperor. Ian Mcdiarmid is a real character who certainly enjoys his place as Star Wars royalty.
The Emperor, Ian McDiarmid and Amy Allen (Jedi Aayla Secura) finished up their interviews for the STARS OF THE SAGA show. Afterwards, Jedi Mickey Mouse joins host James Arnold Taylor to close the show with a sing along. Very funny as the Emperor sings “Why? Because, We Like You.”
