Knowing how hot Florida can be, especially in the summer, a visit to Busch Gardens Summer Nights is a great way to avoid the heat. Arriving at the park in the late afternoon, you still have plenty of time to get in lots of rides before joining the festivities on Gwazi Field. And to kick things off, there are dance parties, fun and games throughout the park, that start in the later afternoon.

Or if you’ve spent the day in park, the concert is a great time to grab some ice cream or a cold beverage and relax. If you get there early, a DJ hosts a giant dance party kids are sure to love; when we visited everyone danced along to favorite party classics like the Cha Cha Slide. Both kids and adults are sure to enjoy the poppy beat and high-flying acrobatics of the Kinetix concert. Immediately following the concert is a stunning fireworks show that can be seen throughout the park.

Now, of course, Summer Nights and the late park hours are a great time to ride on a few of the park’s signature thrill rides – including Busch Garden’s newest Falcon’s Fury. During our visit to Summer Nights, we rode this epic drop tower for the first time and it was a terrifying delight! As you inch up the tower, you take in a view of Tampa Bay, both near and far. Then comes the moment of terror, where at the very top you tilt forward, gravity taking over and pushing you down against the harness. Even though you are completely safe, there’s still a bit of panic that sets your heart racing as you stare directly at the ground. Then as the ride releases, you zoom towards the ground, much like a falcon swooping down to pick up its prey. While the anticipation of the ride up made me close my eyes and breathe deeply, zooming towards the ground was actually so much like flying, I couldn’t help but laugh in delight.
