Director Pete Docter Shares Deleted Scene from Disney•Pixar’s INSIDE OUT

During a recent press visit to San Francisco and Pixar Studios, we had the chance to chat with Director Pete Docter and Producer Jonas Rivera about INSIDE OUT.  If you haven’t seen it, Disney•Pixar’s INSIDE OUT ventures inside the mind to find out what’s going on in the head of an 11 year old girl (Riley).  It was fascinating to listen to the filmmakers discuss their vision, challenges, and favorite parts of the movie.  Both Pete and Jonas said Joy (voiced by Amy Poehler) was their favorite emotion depicted in the film (although Docter said, depending on the day it could be Fear).  Continue reading for an exclusive look at a deleted scene from the film.

Both Pete Docter and Jonas Rivera said coming up with the story was the biggest challenge.  “The making it is not easy,” said Docter, “but you jump out of the airplane and try to build the parachute on the way down.”  Throughout the story process ideas for scenes are pitched, and some hit the cutting room floor.  Check out this deleted scene where Joy struggles to make sense of the new limitations on Riley’s behavior.

Disney•Pixar’s INSIDE OUT will be available on Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere tomorrow (Tuesday, October 13th), and on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray Combo Pack and On-Demand November 3rd.
