VIDEO Tour of Loews Sapphire Falls at Universal Orlando Resort

Recently, Universal Orlando Resort marked the opening of its fifth on-site hotel –Loews Sapphire Falls Resort – with a special, Caribbean-themed arrival celebration of its first guests.  We were invited for a tour of the property and found a lush, tropical hideaway inspired by the rivers and waterfalls of the Caribbean.  Continue for a VIDEO tour of Loews Sapphire Falls at Universal Orlando Resort.

I walked into Universal Orlando’s latest resort, the Loews Sapphire Falls resort not knowing what to expect. For some reason, I just didn’t follow its construction nor keep up with what was occurring with it.

We entered a wide open Lobby that felt very relaxed and were instantly transported out of the hustle and bustle of the Theme Parks. The pool area sealed the deal for me. Once I saw the rocks and slides and cabanas I was certain I would love to spend some time here. Again, I felt completely away from the busy Theme Parks and in a tropical paradise. I was surprised at the expanse and tropical grandeur that had been recreated here. It was really nice and informal.

Free exploration had me discover the Strong Water Tavern. What a nice restaurant bar this was with a patio that overlooked the hotel and falls with rock formations and beautiful flowing water down to a boat dock that whisks guests to and from the parks. Again, I felt completely away from the busy Theme Parks and in a tropical paradise. The restaurants – what little I could surmise – looked promising although I did not try any.

The rooms were a bit small, but nicely appointed. I would describe them as Holiday Inn style rooms with upgraded amenities. If I had one critique for the whole resort, and this is small, is that the lobby lacked a water feature. When you hear about the hotel and how its design revolves around water – the huge lobby seems to be missing something and a friend and I agreed it was a water fountain or wall of water or some feature of some sort.

That being said, I will definitely enjoy being a guest at this above par resort soon. I would say it was a step up from Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort which is also charming with its kitschy 60’s road-trip vibe.

About John Saccheri

John Saccheri has been rooted in the Disney culture from childhood. John only had the opportunity to visit Walt Disney World once, at the age of 5. After returning home, he never stopped talking about it, yearning to return. His parents were worried about this “obsession,” but John began working at the age of 12 with a focus on saving up for the next Disney trip. He was able to visit Disney World at least once a year from 14 years old onward. Today, a successful entrepreneur, John was able to move from his hometown of Long Island, New York, to Central Florida to be close to the Mouse. Going to the parks still seems like a fantasy to him!
