Why I Support Give Kids The World – Giving Tuesday, November 29, 2016

After the turkey and stuffing, the Black Friday deals, Michigan vs. Ohio State, and visiting with relatives comes Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving on Tuesday, November 29.  Now, more than ever, charity organizations are reliant on public generosity to support their good work.  Traveling with my family has strengthened our love for each other, broadened our perspectives, and brought us hours of joy.  For 30 years, Give Kids The World has brought that same type of happiness for families with children who happen to have life-threatening illnesses.  I’ve volunteered many hours at Give Kids The World, and have directly witnessed the impact this unabashed happiness has on the wish children, their families, and us volunteers as well.  That’s why on this Giving Tuesday I’m supporting Give Kids The World, and I encourage all of my readers to consider supporting as well.  Visit givekidstheworld.org/givingtuesday to learn more and make a donation.

Give Kids The World Giving Tuesday

It takes $5,000 to host one family for the week at Give Kids The World, and that money goes towards providing food, entertainment, housing, and more for a family in need.  Even a small donation can make a huge impact on these deserving families.  For example,

  • $25 can provide unlimited ice cream for a family for a week.
  • $50 can help support horseback riding and fishing programs.
  • $100 can help fund daily entertainment parties.
  • $250 can support daily gift-giving program.

On Giving Tuesday, your donation will go even farther to support these brave children with a matching grant that doubles donations made throughout the day up to $55,000.  In addition, you can donate with confidence as Give Kids The World recently received a perfect score of 100 from Charity Navigator – making them one of only 49 nonprofits in the country to earn the score.  Charity Navigator is the leading independent evaluator of charities, and has also given Give Kids The World a four-star rating for financial health, accountability, and transparency.  Nearly 92 cents of every dollar Give Kids The World receives is spent directly towards services for the children and families it hosts.
