It’s been very rainy lately here in Southern California. But last Saturday, the clouds parted, and the sun was shining for the opening day of the Lunar New Year celebration at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Making their Universal Studios debut to celebrate the Year of the Rooster, are the stars of the DreamWorks Animation hit Kung-Fu Panda, Po and Tigress.
Also returning to the festivities is the Decepticon, Megatron! One of the stars of Transformers: The Ride 3D. This 12-foot tall robot made from nightmare fuel speaks full on Mandarin to guests at the Universal Plaza where the all of the fun takes place.
I have no idea what Megatron is saying, but I’m sure it has something to do with getting the AllSpark away from pesky humans.
The Universal Plaza is decked out with traditional Chinese’s decorations including customary red lanterns, a plum blossom arch, and banners of the Chinese zodiac animals.
Guests also had the chance to share a new year wish and hang it on one of the beautiful plum blossom trees scattered throughout the area.
Also returning are Universal Studios characters, Woody Woodpecker and Curious George dressed in Chinese attire.
We enjoyed seeing all of the fun of the Lunar New Year event. While I don’t understand Mandarin, I could tell that Megatron was a hit with guests. And Po and Tigress also shared the spotlight with long lines to meet them.
The Lunar New Year Celebration will take place January 21st thru February 5th and is included with Universal Studios Hollywood theme park admission.
