I was reluctant to head on over to see the new Paddlefish Restaurant at Disney Springs. Why? you might ask. Because I literally despise seafood. It’s a conversation for another day but since I was a child “If it swam in the sea, it’s not for me. So, I was pleasantly surprised at Paddlefish to see and try a multitude of non-seafood items that were certainly not taking a backseat to all the amazing seafood my friends were going bonkers over.
Paddlefish is not your grandfathers fish house. The old Fultons Crab House was really getting quite disgusting over the years. I don’t use that term loosely. I was there with some friends a few years ago and it felt dirty and smelly. I mean, you could smell the mildew and it seemed to be destroying the ship. The new ship appears as though they literally rebuilt the entire thing albeit maybe the frame is original.
Paddlefish is modern and some likened it to a new condominium complex. Once on the inside, it still kept the modern feel but had some warm touches of light (illumination) that took away from the “cold” feeling one might expect from something “modern.”
There are three floors to discover on the Paddlefish boat, each with its own unique feel. There are stairs throughout and also an elevator in the center of the building. Most impressive was the outside area upstairs. Complete with an inviting bar, it had great seating and standing areas with live music. The view was breathtaking – panoramic of all of Disney Springs and as you pan with your own eyes, you realize how far Disney Springs has come and all dining and shopping options at your disposal.
If I was sold on Paddlefish and not a seafood lover, I can only imagine what a seafood lover would think of the new restaurant. I hope the video does it justice. Enjoy!
