Recap: Star Wars at Comic Con was Full Force in San Diego

Star Wars at Comic Con, what to expect? Just a week shy of Disney’s D23 Expo, I really wasn’t sure if San Diego Comic Con would have any surprises for Star Wars fans. I was wrong! Once again their pavilion was the place to be for Star Wars at Comic Con. Hallmark, Topps Digital, Petco, Loungefly, Del Rey and more all had great goodies all weekend long.  Continue reading for more of Star Wars at Comic Con, and click here for Brian Sims photo blog from the entire San Diego Comic Con weekend.

The Star Wars Hallmark exclusives went super quick, but I managed to snag some of the exclusive itty bitty’s and the exclusive version of the new Battlefront II book by Christie Golden.

Star Wars at Comic Con on Friday in room 7AB was the place to be for panels. The collectibles panel kicked things off with announcements from several vendors. The first announcement concerned Rey’s lightsaber. As announced several weeks ago, going forward Luke’s former saber will be referred to as Rey’s.

Fans also got a look a various products from Gentle Giant, Sideshow Collectibles, and more.

The next panel was a fan panel about adding Steampunk elements to Star Wars cosplay. Following that was the popular publishing panel. At this panel, simultaneous with an EW post, fans learned about the numerous books being released under the Journey To The Last Jedi banner. The most popular one was Chewie and the Porgs those amazingly cute little aliens showcased in the STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI featurette at the D23 Expo.

It was so lovely to see three female authors at the panel: Claudia Gray, Christine Golden, and Beth Revis. Golden shared with the audience that one of the characters in Beth’s book also makes an appearance in Battlefront II.

The Star Wars at Comic Con fan favorite Hasbro panel was next. There fans learned all about the upcoming Black Series figures and the reveal of a Padme figure joing the Forces of Destiny line.

The Star Wars at Comic Con programming continued with a 40th anniversary panel and a music panel both of which were filled to capacity and so I couldn’t attend.  IDW comics also made a splash at the con with mini preview copies of the upcoming Star Wars Adventures comic. The booth barely kept them in stock.
