Taking a Holiday Break and Watching Movies Anywhere

Movies Anywhere is a free app and website that combines the film libraries of five different studios including: Disney, Fox, Sony, Universal, and Warner Bros.  We’ve partnered with Movies Anywhere over the holidays to watch some of our favorite films as well as find some new holiday classics during the season and school break.  Continue reading to learn how you can truly watch your Movies Anywhere, and how the digital platform is great for families.  Disclosure: this is a paid promotion for Movies Anywhere, but all opinions expressed are those of the author.

Movies Anywhere

Our teenage daughter loves wrapping Christmas presents, and we have a dedicated wrapping room downstairs in the basement.  She will happily stream a movie in the background on her laptop or phone while she dutifully toils away.  Plus, Mom and I don’t have to worry about her watching anything inappropriate because we can set up separate user accounts for the kids and manage what movie ratings she can watch.  She’s currently re-watching GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, Vol. 2 that we previously saw in the theater, as well as catching up on the films we missed this summer like SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING.  Plus, we’re looking forward to gathering together as a family to watch a new holiday film for us, LOVE ACTUALLY.

If you were familiar with Disney Movies Anywhere, then you’re familiar with Movies Anywhere and you have even more film choices.  As soon as I signed into Movies Anywhere, all my movies I previously redeemed from the Disney Movies Anywhere codes were already right in my account.  I didn’t have to jump through any hoops to retrieve them.  So you know what I’ll be watching while I’m wrapping presents… That’s right, Star Wars!  Now that I’ve seen, THE LAST JEDI, I’ve got the rest of my Star Wars films loaded up for a present wrapping marathon that will take me right up to Christmas Eve.

Plus, I can stream Rogue One in the basement, while my wife watches her favorite version of A Christmas Carol upstairs, and the kids watch THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE.  We can have 4 different streams with 4 different movies going at the same time, all on one account.  So what will we be watching during our holiday break?  Check out our list of favorite holiday movies below:

  • It’s a Wonderful Life – I like to watch this on Christmas Eve (also my birthday) to remind me to reflect on the good that’s occured throughout the year,
  • The Year Without a Santa Claus – my wife just loves Snow Miser and Heat Miser,
  • A Charlie Brown Christmas – Christmastime is here…
  • Die Hard – ok, ok, not actually a Christmas movie (but set at Christmas), and we’ve never actually watched this with the kids. However, now that they’re teenagers, and grew up watching Alan Rickman play Snape in the Harry Potter films. We thought it would be fun for them to see Alan Rickman play the bad guy in his first film role.
  • Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas – one of my sentimental favorites.
