Doughnuts that put you under a spell? That could be the case now that Voodoo Doughnut has opened at Universal Orlando’s CityWalk. The Portland-based shop opened its first east coast location and brings a line-up of over 50 types of freaky, weird, and sinfully delicious doughnuts to Universal CityWalk. But does Voodoo Doughnut live up to the hype? Continue for our VIDEO review.
Let me start by saying, I am not a doughnut person. I just never thought they were particularly appetizing. I’d walk into Dunkin’ Donuts with friends and just order coffee while they got their pastries. My opinion has changed since visiting Voodoo Doughnut at Universal CityWalk. Voodoo Doughnut has a cult following and features signature originals and one-of-a-kind delectables like the Dirt Doughnut, the Memphis Mafia, Grape Ape, and the Bacon Maple Bar. Matt Dobrovolsky and myself, John (Panda) Saccheri, tried the Dirt Doughnut and their signature VooDoo Doll – for research purposes :). The video below is shows our initial reactions.
You can find Voodoo Doughnut on the first level of Universal CityWalk, and it can’t be missed on a stroll heading towards Universal Studios Florida theme park near the NBC Sports Grill and Brew. Mind you, the lines for Voodoo Doughnut can be very long – close to an hour wait at times. Crazy, I know. However, on this particular day we waited less than 4 minutes. So if it’s crowded, just try again at another time.
Voodoo Doughnut is the most recent addition to Universal CityWalk, that’s undergone a massive change since 2014. The dining and entertainment complex for Universal Orlando has added 11 new venues in just four years including The Cowfish burger and sushi bar, Antojitos authentic Mexican food, and the highly immersive Steampunk styled Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen. Voodoo Doughnut is a perfect compliment to the wide variety of offerings at Universal CityWalk.
