In making Disney’s A WRINKLE IN TIME, Ava DuVernay looked to create a film that was part social commentary, part science, and part spiritual.  I thoroughly enjoyed hearing the director’s motivations for re-imagining the book.  In addition, hearing Oprah Winfrey espouse the virtues of such a diverse cast and filmmaker was inspiring.  It is high time that we are more multicultural and inclusive with who is sharing stories as well as the faces we see on screen.  The character Meg Murray is the product of a bi-racial family, and is more representative of the world today.  She is played brilliantly in the film by Storm Reid, and Oprah Winfrey says Reid is an actor we will hear from for years to come.

In Sarah Woloski’s review of A WRINKLE IN TIME, she says the connection between Meg Murray and her father tug at the heart-strings, and Reese Witherspoon wins a gold medal for playing a charming celestial being.
