On August 16, 2018, Universal Orlando Resort opened the Aventura Hotel, their sixth hotel on their property. This new hotel offers a new stylish and modern design rooms, delectable dishes, and remarkable views. The Aventura Hotel maintains the level of theming that the other Universal Loews properties offer and maintains an amazing value for its guests. Aventura offers two “standard” rooms for the average family, a standard view room and a deluxe view room. We were extremely impressed by the design of the deluxe view rooms. Most are situated in the corners of the building and offer two queen sized beds. The beds are not situated next to each other like typical rooms or the standard view rooms at Aventura. These rooms have beds across the room from each other. I personally found this wonderful if you are sharing the room with a friend, which gives you a sense of seclusion and privacy. The bathrooms are situated around the corner of the room and features walk in showers!
Guests will also discover technological advances throughout the hotel – previously seen in very few hotels to this day. For instance, guests boarding the elevator are greeted by a touchscreen which allows them to punch in their room number and access certain areas of the hotel. Each guest room features iPads, which allow guests to control the temperature in the room, lighting levels, television channels, and more!
The only issue that I saw with the rooms was size. Especially, in the kids suite where you can fit five guests, pathways are narrow and closet space is small for luggage. However, Universal and Loews made a tub w/ shower and a walk in shower in the bathrooms to allow multiple guests to get ready at once. I always find this a plus in hotel rooms to this day ever since I went on my first Disney Cruise vacation.
There is a “food court” quick service style restaurant at the hotel called Urban Pantry. This food court features unique pizzas, burgers, and signature dishes like paella! However, my favorite “station” in this restaurant is the sushi station! This station features many asian style dishes, sushi rolls, and some of the best dumplings I have personally ever had!
At the top of the hotel is Bar 17 Bistro the premiere location offering spectacular views of the Central Florida area. We were up at this location at the right time, because we were able to see in the distance the fireworks from Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom! The only thought that kept going through my mind while I was up there was “what a remarkable view to have on New Year’s Eve!” Imagine seeing all the fireworks around the Orlando area going off at the same time!
At a significantly low price point, Universal and Loews have created a spectacular new hotel to their property! Aventura is also just the beginning, as next year Universal will be opening Universal’s Endless Summer Resort with the Surfside Inn and Suites and then Dockside Inn and Suites. Once completed, Universal will boast 9,000 rooms across their property. In comparison, Disney World features over 30,000 rooms on their property. While Universal is under 50% in comparison to Disney, its amazing to see how Universal is continuing to expand their property to be a true competitor to Disney.
