Halloween is my absolute favorite time of the year, and I never miss Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. Trick-or-treating in the theme park, Disney characters dressed up in special costumes, the intimidating Headless Horseman making his way down Main Street U.S.A. ahead of the Boo to You Parade, and ghosts in front of the Haunted Mansion all make Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party a fantastic experience. Continue reading below for VIDEO highlights from the first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party for 2018 and learn what’s new this year.
PIRATES! Disney added LIVE PIRATES to Pirates of the Caribbean interacting with guests throughout the queue and inside the attraction itself. Captain Jack Sparrow now has a rival, Gunpowder Pete, who’s also on the hunt for treasure. Based on the buildup I expected a few more actors than I saw (one on the ride and one in the queue), but the pirates that were there were excellent and definitely added to the experience. Enjoy this quick video showcasing this special addition to the classic Magic Kingdom ride.
The Boo To You Parade is always one of the highlights of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and a truly spook-tacular procession. The parade begins led by the Headless Horseman, dancing ghosts and gravediggers, and a collection of floats featuring Disney Characters in Halloween costumes. In the videos below, watch the Headless Horseman make his haunting ride, and then take a look at the 2018 Mickey’s Boo To You Halloween Parade in just over 3 Minutes. That’s three minutes of the good stuff with no lag.
I LOVE the Haunted Mansion, and am always excited to see Madame Renata and Madame Carlotta during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Here, Madame Carlotta tells us the backstory of how Madame Leota (the floating head in the Seance room) came to be there and how she is not so fond of her. Madame Carlotta also called me (Panda) out during her show – 🙂
Also new for 2018, the Mad Tea Party takes guests on a colorful teacup ride with special lighting and other effects putting a glowing new spin on the attraction at night.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of Walt Disney Pictures’ “Hocus Pocus,” and the Sanderson Sisters return to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party to put a spell on you during the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular stage show. The popular show at the Cinderella Castle forecourt stage brings together Disney Villains and the mischievous sisters to cast a spell over Magic Kingdom three times each party night. Click here for full video of the show.
Other changes for the 2018 version of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party include no lights and a rocking soundtrack to Space Mountain, Storybook Circus Disney Junior Jam dance party with Doc McStuffins and Timon from “The Lion Guard,” and prospector Cactus-Flower Cate rounding up youngsters for the Frontierland Costume Promenade.
Each evening is capped off by “HalloWishes,” a green and orange fireworks spectacle complete with Disney villains and hosted by Jack Skellington himself. Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park hosts this spooktacular after-hours party from 7 pm – midnight, but you can get into the park as early as 4:30 pm with a party ticket. Advance tickets start at $75 for adults and $70 for children ages 3-9 (plus tax). Day-of tickets start at $85 for adults and $80 for children ages 3-9 (plus tax).
