Did you ever eat a meal where it was mainly a bunch of side dishes or appetizers with no proper main course? That’s how I would describe ALL the new things that began at Walt Disney World Jan 18th. And its not meant in a bad way. This is no Toy Story Land or Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opening right now, but a myriad of fun smaller activities that make the parks a joyful place to visit Now More Than Ever as their slogan goes.
Let’s start off in the Magic Kingdom where Mickey and Minnie are together in their Birthday Celebration outfits, waiting to meet you, your family and friends in The Town Square Theater. Also, the Move It! Shake it! Mousekedance It! Street Party in front of Cinderella’s Castle will have you dancing with classic and rare characters you seldom run into. Check the schedule to confirm times and note this does not replace the Festival of Fantasy daytime parade.
The Magic Kingdom also added some new Merchandise and Food & Beverage offerings as part of Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration including a new Mickey Sippy Cup while supplies last!
Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios they are celebrating 30 years by letting you party with your favorite Pixar Pals. Separate from all the new fun at Toy Story Land – Pixar Place guests can leap into action during An Incredible Celebration featuring Mr. & Mrs. Incredible and Frozone in The Super Shindig Dance Party. You can also meet Edna Mode in her new meet & greet space and try a num num cookie and see why they calm Jack Jack down so much. They are so delicious – I would say they were less of a cookie and more like a brownie – Scrumptious in every way!
Over at Walt Disney Presents, there is a door leading to the Monster World where you can visit with Mike and Sulley!
Animal Kingdom also joins in the fun with the Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party featuring Timon and Rafiki from The Lion King. Some special photo opportunities are also offered.
Of course, Epcot is celebrating it’s International Festival of the Arts and while we will have more on that soon – its worth noting that their Broadway Concert Series shows every day of the festival up until it ends Feb 25th.
So, I guess whoever said that good things DO come in small packages is right – especially if it is a whole bunch of small packages at once. So much more is coming, it’s overwhelming and we will keep you in the know here at ABD!
