KID Perspective: Phineas and Ferb Mission Marvel DVD Review

In PHINEAS AND FERB MISSION MARVEL, the world of Marvel Super Heroes runs full force into the power of Disney animation’s popular Phineas and Ferb.  The Disney Channel special was released on DVD on October 1, along with eight other Phineas and Ferb episodes, a collectible comic book, and one of three different posters.  There was a ton of excitement in the Disney fan community surrounding the release of this special mash-up PHINEAS AND FERB MISSION MARVEL episode – including a 40 foot tall Waffle-inator built at the 2013 D23 Expo.  So what did we think?  Continue reading for a kid-review of the PHINEAS AND FERB MISSION MARVEL DVD.

Phineas and Ferb Mission Marvel DVD

Review by Evie Parfitt (age 12)

About a month and a half ago, Disney Channel had a Phineas and Ferb/The Avengers (Hulk, Thor, and Iron Man) and Spider-Man (self explanatory….) crossover episode, which also brought along the super-villains, Venom, Whiplash, MODOK, and Red Skull.

Anyway, my sister and I watched after being intrigued by the millions of commercials shown for it.  I’ll try not to spoil anything, but it you haven’t seen it yet and REALLLLY want to, turn away now.  Basically, Dr. Doofenshmirtz, Danville’s resident “evil scientist,” creates a “Power Drain-Inator” that goes haywire when his nemesis, secret agent Perry the Platypus, destroys it.  However, one lone ray is shot out, and hits the Avengers and Spider-Man, all the way in New York City.  Suddenly, the superheroes have no powers.  The super-villains who were recently fighting the Avengers and Spider-Man try to find out where the mysterious ray came from, and they end up in the Tri-State area.  The superheroes also find themselves in Danville, on the front steps of Phineas and Ferb’s house.  Phineas and Ferb are determined to restore the superheroes powers, and even though they’re young, possibly the fate of the whole world rests on their shoulders.

I really liked the episode, because it had a lot of twists, and I actually was surprised by some of it.  Doofenshmirtz always makes me laugh, and there’s a lot of good content.  There are 8 additional Phineas and Ferb episodes on the disc in addition to Mission Marvel including:

  • “Fly on the Wall”
  • “Sidetracked (Part 1 and 2)”
  • “Primal Perry (Part 1 and 2)”
  • “Backyard Hodge Podge”
  • “Where’s Pinky”
  • “Knot My Problem/Mind Share”

The DVD pack also comes with a comic book, one of three posters, and a Movie Magic rewards code card.  I think it’s a really good buy, because it comes with a lot of extra stuff, and the episodes on the disc would be great for car rides, and places where TV is not available.  Overall, I really enjoyed this product, and would definitely recommend it.
