2015 New York State Fair August 27 - September 7

Just one week until the opening of the 2015 New York State Fair!  The traditional end of summer party for New York State, allowing families one last fling before heading back to school after Labor Day.  2015’s annual edition of the New York State Fair includes the traditional butter sculpture, pig racing, midway rides, and headliner concerts.  New for 2015 is the first ever PRIDE DAY, a Taste NY food truck competition, and $3 admission on Thursdays (kids 12 and under are always free).  Continue reading for more of what’s to come at the 2015 New York State Fair, and click here for our Photoessay of a Day at the Fair to get a sampling of what you can expect during your visit.

These ingredients make for the perfect day spent at The Great New York State Fair happening Aug. 27 – Sept. 7, 2015 at the New York State Fairground in Syracuse.  The 12-day event brings delicious culinary treats such as over-the-top deep fried hamburger with deep fried bacon sandwiched between a grilled cheese, musical performances by top stars including Snoop Dog, Eric Church, Joe Jonas, animals, fair games, thrilling rides, exhibits, seminars and more!  This year welcomes some NEW additions to the fair including the very first, TASTE NY Food Truck Competition on September 6, 2015 where 20 chefs from across the state will compete and crowned as the “People’s Choice” winner.

Fun for the whole family, The Great New York State Fair celebrates its 169th year and continues to enhance the event by keeping the original elements of family fun and adding a variety of activities from wine and cheese seminars to the New York State Fair History Exhibit to the Dairy Cow Birthing Center.

Wild, wacky and fun, The Great New York State Fair offers days of excitement and is steeped with a rich historic past.  Festival-goers will enjoy days upon days filled with concerts by Eric Church and Everclear, to the first-ever Pride Day.  In celebration of New York’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, Friday, Aug. 28 will celebrate the LGBT community.  The day will begin by raising the Rainbow Flag at the Main Gate of the Fairgrounds followed by day-long informational fair.  Guest speakers will partake in the day along with the LGBT booth providing additional information.  The day will conclude with a free concert at Chevy Court by Grammy-award winner Melissa Etheridge.
