Original post from July 17, follows below

Yesterday (Saturday, July 16) at Star Wars Celebration Europe, fans were treated to an exclusive sneak peek at STAR WARS REBELS season three with Dave Filoni (creator, writer).  During the panel Filoni revealed some big hints of what’s to come in the STAR WARS REBELS season three, including new characters Grand Admiral Thrawn — a fan-favorite from Star Wars Legends voiced by “House of Cards” Lars Mikkelsen.  Take a look at the STAR WARS REBELS season three trailer below.

Star Wars Rebels Season Three

Grand Admiral Thrawn first appeared in the Star Wars extended universe novel “Heir to the Empire” by Timothy Zahn in 1991 and was the first of three “Thrawn Trilogy” novels.  When Disney purchased Lucasfilm, Ltd. in 2012, all the extended universe characters were labeled “Star Wars Legends” and deemed not part of the official Star Wars canon.  Now that Grand Admiral Thrawn will appear in STAR WARS REBELS season three, he’s official a canon character of the Star Wars universe.  Filoni revealed a new Timothy Zahn novel titled Star Wars: Thrawn will be released in 2017.

The STAR WARS REBELS season three trailer also signaled an appearance by original Star Wars trilogy character Wedge Antilles, friend of Luke Skywalker involved in the attack on the oiginal Death Star in A New Hope.  Sabine Wren, (Tiya Sircar), assumes a much larger leadership role for the series’ rebel firebrand, and her Mandalorian roots will also be further explored.
