Knott’s Spooky Farm – Halloween Fun with Charlie Brown and the Peanuts Gang

While grown-ups and monsters celebrate Halloween at Knott’s Scary Farm by night, kids and the Peanuts gang can celebrate at Knott’s Spooky Farm by day! The little ones can look forward to the many fun interactive shows, character meet-ups, costume contest, Dia De Los Muertos celebration, trick-or-treating and so much more! The family-friendly fun at Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA will continue on selected days until October 31st.

I was very eager to see how kids would react to these characters that don’t have much exposure. Of course, there was the 2015 Peanuts feature film and the various holiday TV specials but other than that Snoopy and the gang don’t get out much. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see kids in long lines for photo ops, filling the theatres and wearing Charlie Brown yellow shirts, and inspired dresses, with the black zig-zag. While waiting for shows I asked parents around me how their children know the Peanuts and they told me that they introduced them with the TV specials. One parent even told me that his son doesn’t think it’s Halloween until he watches, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown”.

Knotts Spooky Farm offers many ways for kids to see more of the Peanuts gang. Charlie Brown and Lucy headline the dance party, “The Monsters Are Coming Charlie Brown”. Inspired by Orson Welles’s “War of the Worlds,” a radio broadcast announces after a few musical numbers that a furry monster is about! Who could it be? Everyone’s favorite beagle, Snoopy! Charlie Brown, Lucy and Snoopy continue the party and dance to more Halloween favorites and encourage all to sing along.

A Trip To Camp Snoopy takes kids on an adventure on The Grand Sierra Railroad train. Passengers see Snoopy and Woodstock roasting marshmallows, the Camp Spooky campsite where Schroeder is playing his piano like the Phantom of the Opera and several (kid-friendly) monsters. A fun ride!

New this year, Stanley Scarecrow has opened up the Livery Stable for guests to get up close and pet several Creepy Critters of Calico. Personally, seeing these snakes and tarantulas this close gives me the willies, but the kids loved it. One child sat and petted a snake like it was a furry dog for several minutes and kids lined up to pet the Iguana. I’m sure it’s fun, but I’ll just watch from afar. Don’t judge me!

There is so much more at Knott’s Spooky Farm that the kids (and adults) will love. If you’re looking for the perfect family Halloween experience, don’t be like Charlie Brown and miss kicking that football, and don’t miss this holiday fun (good grief)! For tickets and more information, head to Knott’s Spooky Farm.
