The LEGO Movie World – Now OPEN at LEGOLAND Florida!!

This week, we were invited out to experience the brand new LEGO Movie World at LEGOLAND Florida! The new land, which opened March 27, boasts three awesome (pun intended) attractions, characters, and even a Taco Everyday Shop!! Personally, I have only been to LEGOLAND Florida twice now, and I must say this LEGO Movie World land alone might be worth the price of admission to the park!!

The LEGO Movie World features three attractions: Unikitty’s Disco Drop boasts a fun drop tower for children, The Battle of Bricksburg a water ride designed for the whole family, and Masters of Flight IS an all-new highly immersive attraction that allows guests to fly through the LEGO universe with some of your favorite characters from the movie. Unikitty and Bricksburg are both re-designed attractions from the previous World of Chima area of the park.

The all new Masters of Flight attraction boasts an innovative ride system that rivals that of Disney and Universal! This state of the art ride system allows guests to board Emmett’s “triple-decker couch” (a creation of his own design and not to be confused with the double decker couch) and take off for a flight over the lands of the LEGO universe! You’ll face off against the evil (yet annoying) Duplos as they try to take over the lands! The ride system itself can only be described as a cross between Soarin’ at Epcot and Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The ride system is on multi levels and has solved the issue that Soarin’ still faces to this day: other people’s feet dangling above you!

The experience to me was nothing short of awesome (again pun intended), however it left me wanting improvements. Perhaps, it was just opening jitters of the attraction, but the film seemed very low in light and the audio was very low. We have been told by LEGOLAND that they are working to upgrade the system, so perhaps my next visit one day will see this improvement. We have also noticed that due to lack of multiple theaters, capacity will be very low for this attraction. So make sure you visit Masters of Flight first thing in the morning when the park opens, or right when the park closes. Overall, this ride alone rivals that of Disney and Universal in terms of its stretching the immersive envelope and exploring innovate ride technology.

Also featured throughout the land are characters from the movie, a merchandise location, a children playground (SPACESHIP), and Taco Tuesday (Everyday). We got a chance to try the Tacos and these are perhaps the best offerings in the park! Be sure to check it out next time you’re in Legoland.

Overall, the new land will be a massive success to LEGOLAND. Its updated rides and more importantly the all new state of the art attraction, Masters of Flight, will delight parkgoers for years to come! Be sure to check out LEGO Movie World and LEGOLAND Florida during your next trip Central Florida.
